The Old Pension Scheme is a social security measure that ensures financial stability for government employees after retirement. Under OPS, employees receive a fixed and guaranteed pension amount, which is calculated based on their last drawn salary and years of service.
This scheme provides security and dignity to retired employees, as they do not have to depend solely on their savings. Unlike the New Pension Scheme, OPS also includes provisions like Dearness Relief (DR) to protect pensions from inflation.
